Hello METRA Members

On January 18th 2010 the METRA board voted to implement a new numbering system that will be referred to as the Plus Numbering System.  Many discussions, suggestions, and considerations were made in order to improve the current number system.  The board felt the plus system would be a good compromise on the highs and lows of classification numbers.  An example:  John is a consistent #5 roper and seams to repeatedly win at ropings.  John’s peers feel that he should be moved to a #6.  The board feels like John can not be competitive as a #6.  The board would give John a 5 plus card, which means he cannot rope with another 5 plus roper in a #10 point roping.  John would have to rope with a #5 or lower.  The plus system will take effect March 1st, 2010.  Anyone who is affected will be notified by phone, and all changes will be posted on the METRA website under the classification page by February 25th, 2010. The new numbering system will not change the format of the METRA finals: Open draw pot, #6 division, #5 division, #4 division and #3 division. 

The board also voted to add a new rule in the bylaws that will be under G. General Contest Rules and listed as #7.  Verbal or physical abuse will not be tolerated at any METRA sanctioned roping as determined by the contractor and/or METRA board member.  The person will be disqualified and asked to leave the roping event.  The 1st offense will be a $100 fine and the persons membership will be revoked if a 2nd offense occurs.
