Hello METRA Members
The METRA board is currently seeking nominations for the officers and directors
for the 2009 METRA season. The positions that are voted on are listed below.
Anyone wishing to run for a position should submit his or her name along with
reason for holding the position. This should be submitted to President, Dale
Simmons or Secretary, Nancy Kirkman by October 1st 2008.
President
Vice-President
Secretary/Treasure
#6 & Above Director
#5 Director
#4 Director
Any members that have a bad debt with METRA or a METRA Contractor will not be
eligible to participate at the finals if the debt is not paid in full by October
15th, 2008. Contractors must notify secretary by September 15th, 2008 of members
that have a bad debt with them.
Contractors wishing to bid on METRA Finals must have bid submitted to Secretary
by October 15th. Call secretary, Nancy Kirkman for details.
This year METRA finalists are getting a choice of a breast collar or a leather
jacket. You must notify me with your choice by September 30th, 2008 or you will
automatically receive a breast collar.
There are several members that have not been receiving their Roping Pen. After
checking with the Roping Pen and verifying that all these members are on their
mailing list it has been determined that the fault lies with the Postal Service
itself. The magazines are mailed bulk mail (second class) which means there are
no guarantees. If you are having trouble with this issue the only thing that can
be done is upgrading your membership to 1st class, so if this is something of
interest you will have that option on your membership renewal form.

Please keep Tracy Malone with the Roping Pen in your thoughts and prayers. She has been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. Tracy has a infant that was born in May and 3 other children.
Congratulations to Dale & Debbie Simmons on the birth of their grandson-Samuel Simmons Horne. Their daughter Shelly gave birth to a healthy baby boy on 7-23-08, he weighed 7lbs 13 ounces and 21 inches long.
Hello METRA Members
I hope everyone is doing well. The 2007-2008 season cutoff is coming quickly,
with September 14th being the end of the season. I thought I would drop a
reminder to everyone on what needs to be done to qualify for the METRA finals.
The finals will be held at Pelzer, SC on December 6, 2008.
1. Must attend and participate at 12 METRA sanctioned ropings. To get credit
for your attendance you must sign (legible) the sign up sheets at all ropings.
2. Be in good standings with METRA and METRA contractors.
3. Finish in the top:
#3 Division Top 20
#4 Division Top 25
#5 Division Top 25
#6 Division Top 15
#7 & Above- Draw Pot low capped at a #5
4. If you are planning on roping both ends at the finals dont forget that you
will
need to attend and participate at 24 ropings instead of 12.
